The Plumeria plant has to be kept indoors during winters to keep it safe from frost bite. Planting it in a pot is a good idea as it can be moved indoors as well as kept outdoors as and when required. The Plumeria grow well in coarse soil that is well drained but the area should not be logged with water. Mixing them with cactus is a good idea.

The most attractive feature about the Plumerias is that their flowers come in different colors and varieties. The colors may range from yellow to white and from red to pink etc. There are also some varieties which have lovely doubled toned flowers. During the early period in Mexico, the Aztecs used the flower of the plumeria plant for medicinal purpose by making them into lotions or salve. The leaves of the Plumerias are leathery as well as broad and thus they prove to be main source of attraction

The most readily available variety is the white Plumeria which is the type that has most fragrance. Local nurseries of Hawaii, Florida or California usually have many varieties of the Plumenria in their gardens. A starter plant which is available through special catalogue needs to be ordered in places where the climate is cool. Plumeria plants can also be seen in the Hawaii airport where cuttings are available for sale. To plant them is easy as they jus need to be potted soil along with Perilite and the soil should be moist but not we excessively wet in the home garden.

In order to cut the branch, it needs to be marked about 4inches from the bottom. A pot should be filed with equal amount of Perlite as well as potting soil In order to help the cutting to sprout it should be  dipped into the powered hormones after it is dipped in water and then rooted n the soil. The cuttings of the Plumenria plant should then be inserted into the pot until the surface of the soil is even with the line drawn. The pot needs to be  filled with pea gravel and  then pressed down  in order to make it firm. The pot should be kept in a sunny and warm spot in the home garden after it has been watered properly and should be watered only once a week as pouring excess water to it may cause the plant to get rotten.

The Plumerai plant should be transplanted outdoor in a big pot planted after the cutting has made a very good grip of its roots in the soil in regions where the climate of that is region warm. The plant should be fed with high nitrogen fertilizers during spring when the new growth starts coming up or the blooming season is about to start. In order to encourage  the blooming of the plants , fertilizers which are high in phosphorus should be used in May. The fresh branches can be rooted for other additional new plants after the Plumerai plant is pruned though the plant does not require pruning.
